Created in 2025, Tobi Amusan’s Digital Identity series explores the intersection of African visual traditions, personal authenticity, and global technology. Drawing direct inspiration from historical African masks—traditionally used to communicate identity, status, and community—Amusan embeds smartphone camera lenses and circuit board patterns directly into stylised portraiture.
Together, these original acrylic paintings examine how our physical selves and online personas merge in an increasingly interconnected world.
